The Divine Mother is the archetypally feminine aspect available to us in all things, internally and externally. We see her in the moon, the ocean, the earth and in the kitchen. We feel her confident care for all beings and her wise embrace. We feel her unconditional positive regard for us and how she models a spacious love, one that doesn’t rush in to change or fix but trusts deeply in our capacity to find our way.
We might call upon the Divine Mother when we need mothering, when we need nurturing and care, when we are deeply tired or feel alone and lost. We might call on the divine mother when we are becoming mothers to another being or to our own inner children. We might call on the Divine Mother to model the true adult feminine to us when we need a guide in how to move through the world with kindness. The kind of kindness that does no harm and takes no crap.

How to work with this archetype:

Place her on your altar, this signals to the Divine Mother internally and externally that she is being called in.
Make a commitment to her, to this space within you and to the experience of her outwardly, its ok if you forget a day or a week. Just like when you meditate and thoughts come in – as soon as you notice them try to come back to stillness. If you fall off the wagon of your commitment, as soon as you notice just hop right back in.
Some commitment suggestions:
-
Light a candle each day and call upon the divine mother
-
Bring offerings each week for her on your altar
-
Take a bath in rose petals on each full moon, call on her here
-
Make a commitment to love your body, buy or make some lovely natural body scrubs and tend your body weekly.
-
Give monthly offerings to the earth - these could be natural foods, flowers, rocks, songs
